Highlight
This month, our hardware installation team had the privilege of visiting BrokerUnion‘s main office in Pickering Ontario. The office was due for a network infrastructure upgrade and that’s when we stepped in to do just that.
What Was Done?
By working with the President of BrokerUnion, Muqit Aziz, it was quickly determined where the company’s network was lacking. All of the additions made throughout the office space had one thing in mind, scalability. All of the hardware installed is rated for Gigabyte, meaning scaling up or down would not cause any connectivity issues.
In a single day, the Syncing Solutions hardware team was able to set up the following:
Network Switch
Large and small network switches were used throughout the office to ensure that devices connected to the network have the option of connecting via Ethernet or via WiFi. Ethernet cables were prewired to a centralized location within the office which is where a large network switch enabled connectivity to all of the Ethernet ports throughout the office. The smaller switches were used in various locations to make more ports accessible where needed.
Network Access Point
The best way to extend an existing network’s wireless connectivity is to use an access point (AP). Almost anyone that has worked with alternative options (such as: range extenders, power line adapters, and WiFi boosters), could agree that an access point is a surefire way of making sure that a network’s wireless signal is boosted securely and constantly.
Thankfully, this AP was equip with PoE (Power Over Ethernet) so a secure power and signal was provided directly from the source – the network switch.
Laptop Docking Stations
Next up was a productivity enhancement. Laptop docking stations were set up in every office so that each staff member could maximize what their laptop had to offer without sacrificing cable management. Best of all, the docking stations now allow for staff members to connect to the network via Ethernet for a faster and more secure connection. As a bonus, a dual monitor was set up using twin 23″ screens, fed director from the docking stations themselves.
VoIP Phones
As an addition to docking stations, each office desk was situated with a VoIP based desk phone, so that staff members could be easily reachable. Each phone was also paired with its own phone number so that the staff directory would become easier to navigate.
Network Printers
Constantly having to plug a device into a printer can be difficult, which is why we assisted the team at BrokerUnion to move away from doing so every time. By patching into the newly improved network, printers were brought online for seamless access by staff and customers.
Office Security
To top off all of these amazing enhancements, security cameras were also installed throughout the office. With the ability to monitor everything remotely, capturing voice and audio is no challenge.
Conclusion
In summary Muqit was happy with the work and dedication that we put in to ensuring that his office was not only brought up to speed but also safe. The Syncing Solutions hardware team helped our friends at BrokerUnion to move away a traditional working style and towards a way of the future.
